Frishta Strategy - Introduction

India is poised to become one of the world’s great economic powers and already is one of the three fastest growing Asian economies.  Five decades of independence have brought liberalisation, economic reforms, high growth, and a growing urbanisation has helped India become a nation with a great and exciting future ahead of her.

 This growth however, has been characterised by a strong concentration of population in cities, emergence of slums, urban poor, increase in population of children and young people under fifteen years of age, mammoth problems of poverty, unemployment and a growing number of street children.  Hence there are tremendous challenges to surmount.
